Lead Daycare Teacher
Job Summary
The Lead Teacher is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and assessment of a developmentally appropriate curriculum for a classroom of children ranging from 3 months to 12 years (specific age group assigned). This role requires maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that supports the mission of Jannie Babies Childcare to provide reliable, high-quality, and round-the-clock care. The Lead Teacher mentors the Teacher Assistant and maintains strong, professional communication with parents.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child.
Conduct ongoing observation and assessment of children, utilizing data to inform and adapt teaching methods.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that meets all licensing and safety standards.
Supervise and mentor the Teacher Assistant, delegating tasks and ensuring effective team collaboration.
Establish and maintain positive, professional, and frequent communication with parents regarding their child's progress, daily activities, and any concerns.
Ensure all practices adhere to New York state licensing regulations for childcare facilities, especially concerning the provision of reliable, flexible care, including possible evening or overnight hours.
Administer screenings and assessments as required and participate in all staff development and training.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess one of the following:
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field.
Valid Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
Valid Child Development Credential (State-specific equivalent).
A Child care degree (Bachelor's or higher) in Early Childhood Education or a related field is highly preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in a licensed childcare facility.
Proven ability to lead a classroom, manage behavior, and communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
