Assistant Daycare Teacher

Job Summary

The Teacher Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in the daily operations of the classroom and the implementation of the educational program. The Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, organized, and nurturing environment, directly engaging with children (ages 3 months to 12 years) and assisting with classroom management and routine care duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily activities, lesson plans, and classroom routines.

  • Supervise children closely during all activities, meals, nap times, and transitions to ensure their safety and well-being.

  • Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the classroom, ensuring materials are accessible and age-appropriate.

  • Provide direct, nurturing care for children, including diapering, toileting, and feeding, as needed.

  • Engage actively with children to promote positive social interactions and model appropriate behavior.

  • Assist in documentation, including daily reports, attendance records, and observation notes.

  • Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a positive and communicative relationship with parents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess one of the following:

    • High-school or GED

  • Prior experience working with children in a group setting is preferred.

  • Must be reliable, flexible, and capable of working a varied schedule, including potential evening or overnight shifts, to support the center’s round-the-clock care model.

  • Demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for working with children.
